PCB yet to submit incident report on Lahore attack

The PCB has yet to submit to the ICC an incident report on the terror attacks on the Sri Lankan team in Lahore last year, after which there has been no international cricket in the country.

The attacks took place in March 2009 as the tourists were on their way to Gaddafi Stadium and eight people were killed.

They are involved in recruiting terrorists, planning, gathering information and storing explosives and sophisticated weapons at different places in the city and its outskirts and providing logistic support to other groups.

Appeals of cases to be shifted to Lahore

On June 19, the LHC Chief Justice (CJ) Khawaja Muhammad Sharif had taken suo motu notice on the acquittal of terrorists accused of attacks on the Manawan Police Training School, Marriot Hotel, and two suicide attacks in Lahore in 2008 in which an army Surgeon General Lt-Gen Mushtaq Baig, a colonel and fourteen others were killed.

A division bench of the LHC headed by the CJ asked the Punjab Prosecutor General Sayed Zahid Bukhar and Islamabad SSP Tahir Aalam to provide necessary documents on the appeals filed so they could be presented before a bench of the LHC within two weeks time.

Rs 4bn set aside for Lahore Ring Road

The Punjab government has allocated Rs 4 billion for the Lahore Ring Road Project in the annual budget 2010-11.

According to budget docements, Rs 2,875 million will be spent on the ongoing schemes of LRR project, while Rs 1,125 million would be spent for new schemes.
